Around BC and WA
by Cascadia
The Columbia Extension is strongly related to the Vancouver/Seattle terrestrial fiber. The Ministry of
Transport and Infrastructure as well as other Provincial Ministries are recommending that Cascadia
continue building along Highway 1 into Kamloops and Kelowna. Both communities are intimately involved
in British Columbia’s Disaster recovery initiative. Today there is no Carrier neutral fiber between Vancouver
and the interior of the Province. Further there is a growing demand by rural communities to be better
served from a competitive Internet broadband service perspective. The goal would be to continue from
Kelowna into Osoyoos, connect with the Columbia Basin Trust* and cross the border along US Hwy 97 to
East Wenatchee and Quincy Washington.
