AsiaPac
by Cascadia as Maple Leaf One
This will be the first subsea cable to land here in British Columbia in over 15 years. Today there is no direct Trans-Pacific Cable connecting Canada to AsiaPac. Cascadia Gateway Corp (CGC) has been in serious discussions with a Subsea Cable Operator and incumbent Carrier based in South Korea as well as NTT in Japan. There has been significant interest from major Carriers in Asia Pac to transit North America without passing through the continental United States. Data Sovereignty and the United States Patriot Act have created serious concern regarding data privacy and security. Our fiber optic landing not in a Tsunami zone, will land here in Vancouver at the Vancouver international Airport and the AsiaPac end will terminate in Shima, Japan and Geoje, South Korea. It will also connect to the Cascadia terrestrial fiber from Vancouver to Seattle.
